Frustration...

The weather has finally cleared up for the last two days and it has been almost like Summer!...  Unfortunately, it is not supposed to last, we have been told.  What a shame as the children break up today for their Summer holiday!  I sincerely hope they will be able to enjoy a fair amount of sunshine in the next six weeks.

I haven't done much, knitwise, this week apart from a good progress on Martha's cardi.   I have been thinking of making another granny blanket but am still musing about the choice of colours and a  different style maybe. The problem is I don't have enough yarn in my stash and need to browse the yarn shops which are... non existent here.  I know I can shop on the Internet but it is frustrating to have to rely on photography only to choose yarn shades. I hear everywhere that knitting and crochet are back in fashion, but there is not much evidence of it here!...

Hopefully next week I'll be working on something new... In the meantime, I am going to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on Monday and, of course, Saturday I will have my copy of the last book. So life is not that bad, even without yarn shops nearby... Have a nice week-end!...

Granny square blanket...

Finally the sun came out briefly to allow me to wash and dry the blanket in the fresh air...  I didn't have long though as  black clouds soon filled up the sky.

I have enjoyed this project immensely, partly because I didn't see it grow!  I did the squares in the evenings in front of the TV, picking the colours almost at random from my basket.

It was most economical too, as I used yarn mostly from the stash!...

But most importantly,  my son loves it!...  (It is not always easy to please a "soon to be" teenager...)

Next on the list could be one blanket for my daughter... I say "could" as she is more likely to challenge me in her choice of colours...

Rain...

Well,  I have finished my granny square blanket this week and what it needs now is a wash and a good blocking session to straighten the edges which are a bit "wavy" at the moment.

I had planned to pick a sunny Summer day to do this and spread the throw outside on the grass to dry quickly in the sun....

This will have to wait....  We might be in the middle of Summer but it is not sunny nor dry!  And while I am waiting, I can always re-read all of Harry Potter before no7 book hits the book shops on 21st July...
