One skein, one week-end...

I borrowed a camera to show off a quick and fun project:  the felted ballerina slippers from Fiber Trends.

I must confess I had serious doubts about the success of the operation... the slippers before felting were huge, floppy and on the ugly side. Whilst I was still knitting, one of my daughter's friend asked me if I was knitting a hat!...

It took several goes in the washing machine to shrink enough to fit nicely.  Verdict:  it was a fun project to make (even after the initial fear of failure) and I will definitely have another go at felting...

No camera...

My camera is broken and has been sent away for a repair estimate. I keep my fingers crossed hoping it won't be something major...  It is just as well I don't have much to show this week...  Work on the crochet blanket and the beaded Martha are progressing slowly but surely...

Talking of crochet, I have been admiring the Babette blanket. Isn't it gorgeous?...  It reminds me of the Kaffe Fassett quilt in his Patchwork book which was on my  "To-do one day" list.  Now that I have seen the crochet version I wonder which one I would go for eventually...

And this is my new "small" project to try my hand at felting... I have finished knitting one slipper which, at the moment, could fit a Yeti or two...  We'll have to see what the washing-machine can do...

Holiday work...

The Easter holidays are nearly over and what glorious weather we have had over here!  Not quite Summer yet but still plenty of opportunities to have picnics nearly every day (which we did...)

Granny squares are perfect crafty work for picnics : not much concentration needed and no fear of dropping stitches.  They are actually perfect for holidays I have discovered!...

And this is for the quiet moments when the children are back to school : a beaded version of Martha.... Chocolate yarn and turquoise beads. I have been very good with chocolate this Easter, I am only knitting it...

Peaceful Holiday

The Easter holidays have started for the children which is great for them as we had some glorious sunny days as well.  For me, school holidays mean less knitting time and no sewing for a while... Not to worry as I have yet to decide where to go next for my next knitting project, although I am starting to believe that it will certainly involve 4 ply wool again (I do love my size 3mm needles...)

In the meantime, I am into this:  

This will eventually become a bed cover for my son who doesn't "do" subtle and muted tones, as you can see.

In between squares, I am reading the delightful adventures of Mma  Ramotswe and Rra J. L. B. Matekoni...
