Summer break...

It is time for our Summer holidays!  We are flying out at the end of the week and, hopefully, we'll reach our Golden Greek Island without too much hassle... (I am forever optimistic...)  There is so much to do still, as we tend to leave things to the last minute, that there will be no time for blogging.  But I will manage to read you all before I go...

I had hoped to finish my shawl before our departure, but, with 14 rows to go still, I can't see it happen somehow...  Never mind, it was intended to become a Christmas present so there is no rush...

My Jaeger cardigan's back is growing nearer the shoulder decreases and, if I finish it before the end of the week, I might consider starting the fronts whilst away.

I am already savouring in my head the first Iced coffee I'll be drinking on Skiathos sea front waiting for the boat which will take us to Skopelos...

A Summer Dress...

I honestly thought I would never finish this dress for this Summer...  The pattern was simple to follow (Kwik Sew pattern 3415) but obstacles came coming which slowed me up.

First,  I had planned to make this dress plain white but I run out of fabric!  My fault:  I cut the pieces wrongly and wasted valuable fabric.  So I had to dive into my stash to add the third tier.

Then, as the fabric I chose was too thin and see-through I had to buy a slip and adjust it to the neckline.

What did I learn from my mistakes:  a) read the instructions carefully, including the cutting layout  and b) choose your fabric with care! You will save a lot of time at the end...

Autumn temptations...

I had promised myself not to look at the  Autumn new knits too early...  But the temperatures here have dropped slightly and temptation came from other bloggers displaying preview photos and pointing to links...  How could I resist?

The Intarsia jumper from IK is probably too ambitiuous for me as I have never done any colorwork before  (or, if I did, a long time ago, it was disastrous) but a) I love the design and colors and b) I have wanted to do a yoke for a long time too.  I am definitely buying this issue and even if I never knit this sweater,  I will be able to drool over it for the rest of my life...   

I have also ordered the latest Phildar magazine ( Autumn) in which I spotted some nice things...

But first, I must finish the shawl I am working on before my holidays. It is growing nicely so I have good hopes...  and I have just cast on  View this photo (using my stash!) from Jaeger JB40 because I was itching to start a new project!
