After a lot of thinking, I have decided to abandon Martha. As I was waiting the right time to thread more beads on the second ball of Calmer, I picked up Martha and knitted a couple of rows only to put it down again in boredom. It is not the pattern itself which is at fault but rather the yarn I had bought for it which is not the 4ply cotton. So the decision has been made and I will donate the yarn to my Mother-in-law who. I am sure, will find good use for it.
Chicago is growing beautifully. I have finished one sleeve and went straight to the back. The frill and ribs are done but I had to stop as a knot unexpectedly appeared from nowhere, too tight to undo (Calmer splits if you mess with it) . I had to cut the yarn and now I have half the beads to thread on again! Knitting can be painful sometimes...
I can imagine you carefully put the Calmer down and gleefully cut the offending knot whilst singing sweetly to yourself...no? OK the air was blue and you weren't very pleased. It's a pig when that happens, anywhere let alone when there's all those beads involved. It'll be worth it in the end.

Yes, I'll do anything in order to continue on with my knitting. Knitting with the kid draped around my neck works pretty well. At least I know where he is and I can concentrate on the important thing....Knitting!
I just finished my second Chicago sweater last night and I would like to try Martha. I don't know if I really want to deal with the 4 ply. I know what you mean about the beads and running into knots. That happened on one color of Calmer several times with me but not on the other color. Sometimes I get my older kids to help me string the beads and they love it. If you have any kids put em to work as a group effort.

What a patience you have to deal with the beads again ! Chicago is a gorgeous design.
